Live events

Your live event, on every screen.

Broadcasting a service, a prizegiving or a big game? Put the same stream on the TVs in the foyer, the overflow room and the clubrooms. POMP keeps it on screen for the whole event and reconnects by itself if the stream drops.

What you get

  • Plays live HLS streams on Apple TV, iPad, Android and browser screens.
  • Works alongside YouTube: stream to YouTube for people at home and to a live video service for your screens, at the same time.
  • Show until changed keeps the stream up for as long as the event runs, with no restarts.
  • Waits with a "Connecting to the live stream" message until you go live, and reconnects by itself after a dropout.
  • Schedule the stream for the event, and screens return to their normal playlist afterwards.
  • Send it to one screen, a tag of screens or the whole building by assigning the playlist.
  • Needs POMP player 2.1.4 or later. The web player already has it, and the store apps are rolling out.

Get started

  1. 1Set up a live video service that gives you an HLS (.m3u8) link.
  2. 2Stream to it and to YouTube at once from OBS, vMix or Restream.
  3. 3Add the link to a Video URL screen, tick Show until changed and assign the playlist.

Live events questions

Can POMP play our YouTube live stream?

Yes, by sending the same broadcast to a second service. YouTube doesn't let other apps play its streams on Apple TV, so stream to YouTube and to a service such as Cloudflare Stream or Mux at the same time, and give POMP that service's HLS link.

Will the stream stay up for a three-hour event?

Yes. Tick Show until changed and the player stays on the stream with no restarts. If the connection drops, it reconnects by itself.

Can I start the screens before we go live?

Yes. Until the stream starts, screens show "Connecting to the live stream" and pick it up as soon as you go live.

How do I stop people closing the app on the Apple TV?

Turn on Single App Mode. POMP then opens when the Apple TV starts and can't be closed with the remote. Our guide at pompsignage.com/single-app-mode shows how.
