Will they read it from across the room?
Screens are read from a distance, in passing, for ten seconds or so. The readability check looks at every piece of text on a design and tells you what will be hard to read and why, so you can fix it before it goes up.
Readability check: 4 issues
- Warning: "Details" is 34px. Use at least 40px so it reads from across the room.
- Warning: "Details" has low contrast (1.9:1) with what's behind it. Aim for 4.5:1 or more.
- Warning: About 54 words takes roughly 18s to read, but a screen usually shows for 10s. Cut to about 30 words.
- Suggestion: "Date" has borderline contrast (3.1:1) with what's behind it. Aim for 4.5:1 or more.

- Text that probably overflows its box
- More words than people can read in the time the screen shows (about 3 words a second)

Readability check questions
Does the readability check use AI credits?
No. It's free and runs instantly in your browser.
How does it decide something is too long?
It counts the words on the design and compares them with the time the screen shows, at about 3 words a second. A 10-second screen fits about 30 words.
What contrast does it look for?
4.5:1 or better between text and what's behind it, the WCAG AA level for normal text. Below 3:1 is a warning.
How many AI credits do I get?
Every plan includes AI credits: Free 3 to try, Basic 100 a month, Pro 1,000 a month, Advanced 3,000 a month. One allowance covers every AI feature. Most actions use 1 credit and generating images uses 2.
